Fort Smallwood Park is comprised of 90 acres at the tip of a peninsula in northeastern Anne Arundel County where the Patapsco River and Rock Creek meet the Chesapeake Bay. Situated at the confluence of the Patapsco River and the Chesapeake Bay, Fort Smallwood Park’s 90 acres offer an outstanding balance of recreation opportunities and natural beauty. Park visitors of all ages and interests will find Fort Smallwood Park a relaxing place to spend their leisure time. Enjoy fishing, picnicking, bird watching, and swimming. The park offers a hard launch boat ramp year-round for power boaters and sailors as well as a soft launch for paddlers, windsurfers and kiteboarders.

Park Hours

The Park opens daily at 5:30 AM and closes at sunset. The Park is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

The Boat Ramp opens daily at 5:30 AM and closes 1 hour before posted park closing time.

Annual Pass - AACO Resident Valid for Anne Arundel County resident admission to Beverly Triton Nature Park, Downs Park, Fort Smallwood Park, Kinder Farm Park, and Quiet Waters Park from the date of purchase through December 31, 2024. Admits the pass holder and occupants of a single, private, non-commercial vehicle to the park. $30
Annual Pass - Non-AACO Resident Valid for non-Anne Arundel County resident admission to Beverly Triton Nature Park, Downs Park, Fort Smallwood Park, Kinder Farm Park, and Quiet Waters Park from the date of purchase through December 31, 2024. Admits the pass holder and occupants of a single, private, non-commercial vehicle to the park. $40
Senior Pass Valid for those 60 and older. Admits the pass holder to Beverly Triton Nature Park, Downs Park, Fort Smallwood Park, Kinder Farm Park, and Quiet Waters Park. Proof of age will be required to redeem the pass at the Park's gatehouse. This is a lifetime pass and is non-transferable. $40

  • Alcohol is prohibited in the park.
  • Parking/Driving on the grass is prohibited. 
  • Enclosed tents are prohibited in the park.
  • Grilling is prohibited outside of the designated picnic areas.
  • Pets, smoking, grills, inflatable boats/rafts, glass bottles, pop-up canopies are prohibited on the beaches.
  • Pets must be on a leash and under owners' control at all times.
  • All groups over 20 persons are required to rent the park’s Cedar Pavilion.
  • Overnight parking is prohibited.
  • Protected Shoreline Restoration Areas are closed to the public.
